Artist Policy

We aim to present outstanding artists from the UK and around the world. Headline acts are usually soloists, duos or trios who focus on African American or shared tradition Americana – covering genres labelled as blues, ragtime, jazz, old-timey, Cajun and zydeco.

We only book headline acts who will not be performing elsewhere within a 40-mile radius and that you wouldn’t see for free in an ordinary pub setting.

These acts are mainly acoustic, but sometimes include electric instruments, percussion and even small drum kits! Some of the artists focus on interpreting traditional material and others use the traditional form as a basis for their own material.

We actively encourage emergent or less well-known artists and are keen to showcase them in the short support slot that opens the evening.

Our Blue Front Radio show on Forest of Dean Radio also presents a wide range of traditional and contemporary acoustic and electric material from current artists (demos welcome).
